Work Smarter Part 1

Is there something missing?

Have you ever felt that something was missing from life? When you wake up every day with a clean slate and you get to create the day pretty much the way you choose, life has become a serious of endless tasks and chores. The meaning of it all gets lost on the repetition of meaningless daily activities.

Former US President John Quincy Adams said “My life has been spent in vain and idle aspirations, and in ceaseless rejected prayers that something resulting from my existence should be beneficial to my own species.”

I’ve had a number of defining moments in my life. The one that I can recall happened about ten years ago. I had just spent the weekend in deep study. That Monday morning I started my daily chores by taking a long walk down my driveway to put the garbage out by the curb. Not what you might call a “heady” activity, yet what followed changed my life.

For some odd reason on this particular morning, I paused to consider an idea that popped into my head. As I stood there on Montauk Highway in East Moriches Long Island, I turned my head to the left (facing west) and began to think about the attorneys I knew on the west side of town. Their accomplishments, their lifestyles, and the stories they had shared with me of about 25 years as practicing attorneys. Although they were successful by society’s standards, I could here an element of resignation in their voices.

Then I faced east and though about the attorneys I knew from the “rich” part of town – Westhampton, Easthampton, etc. Surely, they had to be even more successful so they had to have a deeper sense of satisfaction. As I recollected our conversations, I felt the same sense of emptiness emanating from them. It was in that moment that I realized if I had remained on the same path, I would wind up at the same destination. That was no longer acceptable to me.

That moment started a new chapter in my life. I decided I was no longer going to be content to just go through the motions. Life had more in store for me than that. If I needed to learn new things to alter my future, then so be it. If I had to start spending time with a different group of people, then I did. I finally realized that I had to change what I did, not only physical changes but mental changes.

Most importantly, I had to change what I was thinking. My thinking was keeping me stuck between a rock and a hard place. Inherent in my Wealth Accumulation system is a different way to think about your life and your finances. When you pick up my Wealth Accumulation program, you will find that building wealth is a process that begins from the ground up. Your financial wellbeing is affected by every aspect of your life and vice versa.

I realized that I had to examine every part of my life because each component was crucial of either pulling me forward or holding me back. We don’t stay in one place mentally. We are all either growing or shrinking, expanding or contracting.
